The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid- to late 1970s.

How many Bee Gees are still alive?
Sadly, Barry Gibb is now the only surviving member of the Bee Gees. His younger brothers, fraternal twins Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb died in 2012 and 2003, respectively. The eldest Gibb is now 75 and has continued to make music following the passing of his siblings and bandmates.
How old were the Bee Gees when they died?
Andy, the youngest Gibb brother, died in 1988 aged just 30 after years of drug abuse, Maurice died 13 years ago at the age of 53, and Robin died in 2012 at 62 after a protracted battle with cancer. And Barry, who has never spoken with such emotion about his loss, is clearly haunted by their deaths.
What does Bee Gee stand for?
Gates named the group the “BGs” (later changed to “Bee Gees”) after his, Goode’s and Barry Gibb’s initials. The name was not specifically a reference to “Brothers Gibb”, despite popular belief. During the next few years, they began working regularly at resorts on the Queensland coast.
Why was Andy Gibb not in the Bee Gees?
Sadly, Andy was just too young to join the Bee Gees, as they were already performing and writing songs when he was just an infant. However, in early 1988, Barry, Robin, and Maurice announced that Andy would be joining the Bee Gees which would have made them a four-member group. Tragically, he passed away soon after.
